COMME des GARCONS SHIRT x Supreme 2014 S/S - Review

Last week, Supreme announced the release of their 3rd collaboration with the Japanese designer line Comme des Garcons SHIRT for the upcoming spring season. The underlying theme of this collab is an homage to the late NYC skater, Harold Hunter, featuring the notorious polka dot patterning that we are all familiar with, along with the introduction of some striping as well. Moreover, Supreme will be donation a portion of their earnings to the Harold Hunter Foundation, which is a nice little touch of philanthropy on their part. Anyways, let's take a look at some of highly anticipated pieces that just released this morning.

Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed with this drop. It just feels like Supreme and CDG are running out of things to do together. The idea of a reversible jacket is pretty cool, but I could do without the giant Harold Hunter print covering the whole back. While it may look decent on a tee, it kind of breaks the clean aesthetics of the varsity jacket. The backwards Supreme isn't anything we haven't seen before, but it's only used in CDG collabs, which is understandable. This time they only screen printed the box logo on the hoodies instead of actually stitching it, which is odd. Once again, the hoodie wouldn't be that bad if the back wasn't covered with the huge HH print. The wallet looks good, but the price point is way too high for me to consider buying it. When it comes to the shoes, I guess the only thing you're paying for is the Supreme and Comme des Garcons stamps, because the polka dots and stripes combined together aren't anything revolutionary. I'd easily go for the seersucker-styled Supreme x CDG Vans from 2012 over these ones any day. All in all, nothing really special here, and unless they won't put a dent in your wallet, you would probably want to save your money for another day.
